Lake Pichhola

Built by Maharana Jai Singh in 1678, Fateh Sagar Lake is one of the many artificial lakes in Udaipur. It is roughly about 1 square km in size, but the size tends to vary depending on the season and the rainfall in the area. Fateh Sagar Lake is named after Maharana Fateh Singh who extended the lake during his reign. Located at the foothill of Moti Magri, this lake is very important not only in terms of tourism but also sustaining the water supply in the city.

Fateh Sagar Lake

Lying to the north-west of Udaipur, Fateh Sagar Lake is a sparkling lake which is one of the major tourist spots in the city. Surrounded by the Aravalli Hills, it is the second largest artificial lake in the city and is known for its scenic beauty. The atmosphere here is calm, and tourists are bound to find themselves enthralled by the blanket of tranquillity the place warms them up with.

One can easily go around the circumference of the Fateh Sagar Lake by driving on the Moti Magri Road and get a fantastic view of the entire lake. Apart from enjoying a laid-back afternoon in the serene beauty of this destination, you can also try your hand at boating and a number of other water sports that are available here for the visitors.

Moti Magri, Udaipur

Moti Magri is one of the interesting tourist attractions of Udaipur, the city of dawn. You will see a statue of Maharana Pratap on the top of the Moti Magri Udaipur. Moti Magri or the Pearl Hill is a beautiful hill from where you can enjoy the bird-eye view of the Fateh Sagar Lake. The statue of erstwhile Rajput ruler Maharana Pratap Singh with his horse Chetak or Pratap Memorial was built to pay homage to this legendary Rajput hero. The statue in this Pratap Memorial on the top of Moti Magri Udaipur is made of bronze.

City Palace, Udaipur

Built on the banks of Lake Pichola, the City Palace in Udaipur is considered to be the largest royal complex in Rajasthan. The magnificent palace was built in the year 1559 by Maharana Uday Singh and served as the main seat of power, where the Maharanas lived and administered the kingdom from. Subsequently, the palace was made even more splendid by his successors, who added a number of structures to it.

The Palace now has an assortment of Mahals, courtyards, pavilions, corridors, terraces, rooms and hanging gardens. There is a museum here as well that showcases some of the finest elements of Rajput arts and culture - from colourful paintings to the typical architecture found in Rajasthani palaces.

Jai Samand Lake

Spanning across an area of about 100 sq. Km, Jaisamand Lake is the second largest artificial lake in the country after Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar. It is surrounded by the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary which is home to a variety of rare animals and migratory birds. The summer palaces of Queens of Udaipur also form a beautiful backdrop. Situated in seamlessly beautiful surroundings, it is a place to rejoice.

On its marble dam, there are six cenotaphs and a temple dedicated to Shiva at the centre. The temple is proof that the people of Mewar were highly committed towards the divine power. Locals know it by the name of Dhebar Lake as well.
